Understanding Your Body’s Built-In Defense System
Have you ever felt puffy, sore, tired, or like your body was working against you? You might be experiencing inflammation—and no, it’s not just a buzzword.
Let’s break it down simply: what is inflammation, why does it matter, and what can you actually do about it?
What Is Inflammation?
Inflammation is your body’s natural response to injury, stress, or infection. It's like your internal emergency crew rushing to the scene with the goal of protecting and healing.
There are two types:
Acute inflammation – Short-term and helpful. Think of the redness and swelling after a cut or sprain. It’s your body doing its job.
Chronic inflammation – Long-term and sneaky. It can simmer under the surface for weeks, months, or even years, quietly affecting your energy, joints, digestion, mood, and overall health.
What Causes Chronic Inflammation?
Many everyday factors contribute to chronic, low-grade inflammation—often without us even realizing it:
Poor diet (especially sugar, processed foods, alcohol)
Ongoing stress
Lack of movement or sleep
Environmental toxins
Gut imbalances
Autoimmune responses
Why It Matters for Your Health
Chronic inflammation is linked to a wide range of conditions, including:
Fatigue and brain fog
Joint pain and stiffness
Anxiety or mood swings
Digestive issues
Skin flare-ups
Hormonal imbalances
Increased risk for chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and autoimmune conditions

Fatigue and Brain Fog
In short? It’s the common thread that could be behind the “mystery symptoms” that leave so many of us feeling off.
How Do You Know If You Have It?
You don’t always need a blood test, but you should consult your doctor. Many women I work with say they feel:
Puffy or inflamed after meals
Exhausted but wired
Constantly stressed or anxious
Achy in the morning
Like they’re doing “all the things” but still not feeling right
If that sounds familiar—you’re not alone.
Can You Reduce Inflammation Naturally?
Yes! Small, consistent shifts in your daily habits can lower inflammation and support healing. This is where yoga, breathwork, anti-inflammatory nutrition, and nervous system support can make a real difference.
You don’t need to overhaul your life. You just need a place to start.
